Carnival of the Animals

Join the DSO menagerie for a carnival of fun!

Lions and donkeys and swans, oh my! Bring the whole family along to enjoy Camille Saint-Saëns’ enchanting The Carnival of the Animals and other animal-themed orchestral favourites. Hosted by Darwin’s own Shalom Kaa, this will be a magical musical adventure through the animal kingdom.

Sitzler Symphony: DISCO

Join us for an unforgettable night in boogie wonderland!

Don’t miss this spectacular night under the stars, dancing to great disco hits from the 70s, 80s and 90s! Featuring DSO performing lush symphonic arrangements of the best hits from Earth, Wind & Fire, ABBA, Gloria Gaynor and more! Special guest musicians and dancing queens will transform the Gardens Amphitheatre into a glittering dancefloor.

Classical favourites and a cross-cultural collaboration

Ripple Effect Band are an all-female rock band from Maningrida who sing in four different Aboriginal languages as well as English. For this special event, they have collaborated with emerging Australian composer Alex Turley to produce a dynamic performance that will push musical boundaries.

This exciting premiere will be followed by DSO performing Mozart’s Sinfonia Concertante and Tchaikovsky’s rousing Symphony No. 5.

A multi-artform feast for the senses

Immerse yourself in a multi-layered collaboration between DSO and vibrant local dance company Slide Youth Dance. Featuring excerpts from beloved film scores, this event pairs these works with specially choreographed dance pieces performed live with the orchestra.

This innovative collaboration will be followed by a performance of Mussorgsky’s much-loved Pictures at an Exhibition.
