Sponsorship OpportunitiesThe Darwin Symphony Orchestra's sponsorships are based on compatible values, mutual aspirations, and a shared commitment to achieving common goals. The DSO can offer your company the opportunity to make meaningful contact with its community, through the support of one of the Territory’s oldest and most loved cultural icons. CollaborationsThe Darwin Symphony Orchestra has a twenty (20) year history of successful collaborations with local and national businesses and other Arts organisations. Indigenous ArtistsAs part of its dedication to mutually beneficial collaborations, the DSO has a commitment to working with indigenous artists. Begun in 2008, the DSO has instigated a major collaborative project with the Saltwater Band through Skinnyfish Music. This project is partially funded by the Sidney Myer Fund and will see the arrangement of the Saltwater Band's music for full orchestra. The orchestra will then perform these works with the Saltwater Band in a concert at a date to be decided. The DSO has previously engaged in performance with indigenous groups from various communities, including Elcho island, Nhulunbuy and Millingimbi. If your arts organisation has an idea for future collaborations with the DSO, do not hesitate to contact us on (08) 8946 6214 to set up a meeting with the DSO's artistic and management team and discuss your vision. Regional LocationsThe DSO is also dedicated to delivering concerts to regional centres on a biennial basis. 2008 saw the skies explode with fireworks and the DSO lift the spirits of everyone at Pine Creek as the music filled the night air and the stars filled the skies in this spectacular Northern Territory setting. BursariesIn 2008, Ros Bracher AM (Patron and Donor, and former violinist and past Chair of the DSO) donated five (5) instrumental bursaries to students who may one day play permanently in the DSO. This generosity has helped to support secondary and tertiary students in the development of their orchestral practice, through individual lessons and attendance as trainee performers at a limited number of rehearsals and performances of the Darwin Symphony Orchestra. The bursaries were delivered in collaboration with the Centre for Youth Music (CYM), DSO musicians, and other Darwin professional teachers. Students who received these bursaries were expected to continue with their existing ensembles as part of their Bursary program. This has assisted the student recipients to maintain a strong musical connection with their Funding a Bursary is the perfect way for your organisation to help talented youth achieve their musical potential. With DGR status, your donation, through Friends of the Darwin Symphony Orchestra (FODSO), is also tax deductible. Please contact us on 08 8964 6214 for more information. |
